Honorable Dr Doto Mashaka Biteko (MP) was born on 30 nd December 1978 in Ushirombo Village, Bukombe District, Geita Region in Tanzania. He’s the last born in a family of six children. He is married to Benadetha Mathayo and are blessed with five children.
2.0: Education and early career
Hon. Biteko went to Nyaruyeye Primary School in Geita Region from 1988 to 1994 and later joined Sengerema Secondary School from 1995 to 1998 for his O’ level and Butimba Technical School for A’ Level education. He went for Grade ‘A’ Teaching Course at Katoke and Training Colleges respectively between 1999 and 2004. He joined Morogoro Teachers College for Diploma Education Course in 2005 to 2007.
Hon. Biteko went to University of St. Augustine University of Tanzania for Bachelor in Education (2007-2010) and Masters of Business Administration (2011 to 2013). He pursued the Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) from the University of Dodoma (2016 to 2021).
Hon. Biteko also went for various short courses in different sectors which include Certificate in Education Management from Renmin University China (2013).
During his career, he also became the Geita Regional Chairman of Tanzania Teachers’ Union (TTU) from 2012 to 2015, and Geita District Chairman of TTU from 2010 to 2012.
3.0: Political career
He is currently, a Member of Parliament for Bukombe Constituency (CCM) since 2015. He served as the Deputy Minister for Minerals (2018 to 2019), Minister of Minerals (2019 to 2023).
Prior to that, he was appointed Chairman of Energy and Minerals Parliamentary Committee (2015 to 2018) District Academic Officer for Nyang’wale District Council Geita Tabora region in 2014, the post he held until 2015 when he was contested for a parliamentary sit for Bukombe constituency.
