ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND PRIVATE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

Objective

To accelerate private sector development and economic empowerment in the Country.

Functions

This Division will perform the following functions:-

  • To develop, monitor, evaluate and review the implementation of Economic Empowerment and Private Sector development policies, strategies, programs, projects, legislations and guidelines to accelerate economic empowerment.

Division will be led by a Director and will have two (2) Sections as follows:-

  • Private Sector Development Section; and
  • Economic Empowerment Section.

Private Sector Development Section

This Section will perform the following activities:-

  • Develop, monitor, evaluate, and review implementation of Private Sector Development policies, strategies, programs, projects, legislations and guidelines;
  • Create awareness and build capacity on implementation of Private Sector Development policies to MDAs, LGAs and other stakeholders;
  • Undertake and coordinate research on Private Sector development and advise accordingly;
  • Coordinate Public Private dialogue and institutionalisation of regulatory impact assessment for regulatory intervention by MDAs; and
  • Analyse Private Sector development status and provide advice to the Government and Private Sector on measures that can enhance the growth of the private sector.

This Section will be led by an Assistant Director.

Economic Empowerment Section

 This Section will perform the following activities:-

  • Develop, monitor, evaluate and review implementation of economic empowerment policies, strategies, programs, legislations and guidelines to accelerate economic empowerment;
  • Create awareness and build capacity on implementation of economic empowerment policies to MDAs, LGAs and other stakeholders;
  • Undertake and coordinate research on economic empowerment and advise accordingly;
  • Develop strategies for empowerment through building entrepreneurial skills and knowledge levels of indigenous Tanzanians;
  • Create an enabling environment for Tanzanians to participate effectively in the formal economy;
  • Design strategies to assist Tanzanians to own properties or purchase shares in state enterprises; and
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of empowerment programs and projects.

This Section will be led by an Assistant Director.
